1st DAY: ITALY(YOUR COUNTRY) – DURRES

Departure by scheduled flight from Italy(your country), arrival at Tirana airport, meeting with guide / companion. System -action in hotel in Durres, dinner and overnight.

 

2nd DAY: KRUJA – TIRANA

Breakfast at the hotel. Departure for Kruja, the ancient Albanian capital, a city symbol of the anti-Eighth Resistance, as well as the city of the national hero Skanderbeg.

Visit the Skanderberg Castle with the National Museum of Skanderberg and the Ethno-graphic Museum within its walls. Finally, visit of the characteristic bazaar consisting of a set of small shops with handicrafts and traditional Albanian products. Short climb up a cobblestone path to the castle from where you can admire a spectacular view of Kruja and the plain. Free lunch and then departure for Tirana, the capital of Albania, with one million inhabitants, almost a third of the Albanian population. Arrival in Tirana, visit of the National Historical Museum, the Skanderberg Square, the Ethem Bey Mosque and the Bunkart the largest anti-atomic bunker of the former dictator Enver Hoxha.

3rd DAY: BERAT – DURRES

Breakfast at the hotel. Departure to Berat, one of the oldest cities in Albania, founded in the 4th century BC from the Illyrians. It is known as the “City of a thousand and one windows” and has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Visit the Castle, the Museum of Icons and its many churches and mosques.

Free lunch and departure for the coastal town of Durres, visit of the Amphitheater, the Archaeological Museum, the Villa of Durres and the modern city.

4th DAY: APOLLONIA – VALONA

Breakfast at the hotel. Departure for Apollonia, the ancient city founded by the Greek Corinthian settlers. Visit the Archaeological Site and the remains of the ancient city of the antiquarium, of the Monastery of Santa Maria

Free lunch and departure for Valona, passing from the city of Fier (Fieri the “Albanian Milan for its industries). Visit of Vlore with a walk on the boulevard to the birthplace of Albania’s founding father Ismail Qemal up to the Flag Square.

5th DAY: SEA DURRES

Hotel accommodation, breakfast, dinner and overnight.

6th DAY: SEA DURRES

Hotel accommodation, breakfast, dinner and overnight.

8th DAY: RETURN TO ITALY

HOTEL DESCRIPTION

Hotel Diamma Resort 4 * is located in Durrës in Plazh (beach) directly on the long sandy beach where you can make endless walks and have a coffee or an aperitif in the many bars of the beach enjoying the scent of the sea and enjoy the beautiful sunsets or take a swim in the sea in front or in the resort pool. It is a 4 * star recently renovated, the rooms are newly furnished in a modern way, has Wi-Fi, private parking; is set in a green setting with pine trees, some rooms with balcony have air conditioning, mini-bar, has a restaurant where you can enjoy the taste of the sea during your dinners, but also expertly cooked pasta.

 

GENERAL INFORMATION

For entry into Albania it is sufficient to show a valid identity card.

No health prevention is necessary. The only precaution is to avoid drinking tap water, better to use bottled water.
Compulsory medical insurance.
The local currency is the Leke which now changes to about 128 Leke for one Euro (it is advisable to change some Euro for own expenses to avoid non regular changes of premises).

It is recommended for visits to the places indicated sports shoes with sole with a little ‘tank and practical clothing “onion”.

Berat

La città è situata sulla riva destra del fiume Osum. Berat è una delle città più antiche fondata nel IV secolo a.C. dagli Illiri. L’attuale nome della città in albanese è Berat (o Berati, a secondo del contesto nella lingua albanese). Durante l’antichità il territorio è stato il sito di una Polis Greca, Antipatreia (Greco: Ἀντιπάτρεια, “città di Antipatro”), mentre durante l’era dell’Impero Bizantino il nome della città era Pulcheriopolis (Πουλχεριόπολις, “città di Pulcheria”).
La maggiore attrazione della città è il castello che fu costruito nell’epoca Illirica e ricostruito in difesa degli Ottomani. Sulla roccia sottostante il castello ci sono piccoli monasteri che meritano una visita per gli interessanti affreschi. Peculiare è la Moschea di Piombo, chiamata così per il materiale di rivestimento delle sue cupole, la moschea Re e la Moschea degli Scapoli.
Nel 2008 il centro storico di Berat è stato aggiunto ad un preesistente patrimonio dell’umanità, la città museo di Argirocastro, quale “raro esempio di città ottomana ben conservata”. Secondo l’UNESCO, Berat dimostra la pacifica convivenza di varie religioni nei secoli passati.
